  Welding / Fabrication inspector for TATA Steel Projects in Workington. This role requires the daily monitoring and inspection of welding and fabricating activity within the plant. I carry out dimensional checks and visual inspection before, during and after welding. I am then also on hand for any NDE that is required prior to signing off for completion. Communication between myself, the Technical Department and QA is essential to ensure that work is progressing as planned, and that any defective work is logged and repaired efficiently.Currently carrying out quality control on various jobs for companies such as Rolls Royce, BAE Systems, James Fisher Nuclear, and Sellafield LTD.   Part of a busy QC inspection department on a large nuclear new build. Daily duties include the control and issue of welding consumables. Material verification and general inspection duties which are to be carried out before, during and after welding.Such duties include checking weld set-ups, ensuring cleanliness prior to welding, monitoring the welding process and visually inspecting the final weld both externally and internally where possible. I also carry out NDE where required.IT skills are essential in this role as all recorded data is to be input into our own Internal Management System before signing off electronically for any accepted weld.A high level of communication is maintained between production, quality and the project engineers to ensure work is progressing as planned and to address any issues or defective work.   To provide a presence from a quality perspective on behalf of Morgan Sindall (ISA).I Travel to various sites around the UK to inspect jobs at the required stages as instructed in the ITP. Such inspections will include dimensional checks, welding/NDT inspection, galvanising or coating inspections and final inspections prior to release.All relevent documentation for the above operations is subject to review and approval by myself and other members of the quality department. Once satisfied this is then compiled and included in the LTR for the product.Communication is essential between myself and the engineers on each of the various projects. This ensures that all stages of inspection are adhered to, and that all remedial work is carried out in a timely/effective manor so as not to have a negative effect on the program and cause delay.IT skills are essential as all inspection visits are summarised in the form of reports and communicated back to the appropriate parties.
