      Director

Leafhopper Community Support CIC run a program for schools called Safety In Action (SIA). Safety in Action is a two week programme to help Year 6 Students to develop their competence and confidence in responsible citizenship and safety skills. Schools are invited to book students on a half-day session of interactive challenges. Through carefully staged scenarios the pupils learn to deal with potentially life-threatening situations. The scenarios include environmental hazards, stranger danger, fire hazards as well as road and water safety, drug information etc. Each Safety In Action session lasts approximately two hours. Following a briefing the pupils are divided into groups and sent around the course. Adults mark the children and advise them of their performance and escort them to the next scenario. At the end of each session the children are de-briefed before returning to school.
