      Dec 2017 - Jan 2018
      Winter Internship

SCR Erosion and Efficiency ImprovementMy primary focus was on improving the erosion profile, as the efficiency was already at 92%. The catalyst I developed, when fired at 625 degrees Celsius, demonstrated significantly better heat resistance compared to previous samples. Testing was primarily conducted using an erosion jet tester.

Fuel Control in Kilns for Firing Ceramic MaterialsThe primary motivation for this initiative was to reduce the costs associated with firing ceramic materials. It was discovered that an excess amount of fuel was being used.To regulate the fuel flow, I proposed the implementation of a properly designed orifice meter, among other methods. I collaborated with the engineers responsible for the design of the orifice meter and assisted in determining the optimal air-to-fuel ratio.

Water Treatment of the ETP OutletThe addition of hydrogen peroxide was previously proposed for the treatment process. A survey and exploration were conducted on the use of iron catalysts and peroxidase enzymes. The activation energy for hydrogen peroxide alone is 18 kcal/mol; with an iron catalyst, it is 13 kcal/mol; and with a peroxidase enzyme, it is 7 kcal/mol.Consequently, experiments were carried out using various compositions of hydrogen peroxide and peroxidase enzyme under both aerated and non-aerated conditions. It was determined that the sample containing a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and peroxidase enzyme without aeration exhibited the highest and fastest reduction rate. Moreover, this method is significantly more environmentally friendly for the reduction of total organic carbon (TOC). Show less

Steam and Water Balance Analysis:Performed a comprehensive water and effluent network balance to identify loss points. Additionally, conducted steam and condensate balances across various unit operations to pinpoint areas of inefficiency and recommend improvements.Identified two primary areas for recycling water and steam, respectively. Recognized a stream that can be economically treated and recycled, thereby reducing the load on the effluent treatment plant.Utilized ASPEN and HTRI software for detailed analysis and modeling. In this role, I am responsible for overseeing chemical processes related to patterning and chemistry in PCB fabrication. My key achievements include:- Leading a critical customer qualification project involving consumables and computing applications, projected to generate $71.5 million in revenue from FY 2024 to FY 2028.- Successfully qualifying and transitioning an automotive sensor product to high-volume manufacturing, with projected revenue of $50 million from FY 2024 to FY 2027. (Expected to increase)- Developing and executing a roadmap to reduce feature sizes from 3 mil to sub 2 mil capabilities.- Successfully managed a major customer complaint and ensured regular inflow of products (for Automobile inverters) after nullifying the complaints- Revenue inflow- $ 400 k per annum. - Managing a team of five specialists in metallization, lithography and patterning, solder-resist, and surface finishing in PCB manufacturing. Show less I am primarily responsible for developing new technologies and qualifying products that fall outside the Standard Scope of Services (SSS) in various PCB chemical processes. My expertise spans Copper Electroplating (DC, Pattern, Micro-via filling, and Pulse plating), Plasma and Chemical Desmearing, Copper etching (Acid and Alkaline etching), and Direct metallization of PCBs.Additionally, I have experience supporting Oxide coating, Oxide coating removal, Surface finish, Soldermask coating, and Photo printing processes. I am proficient in cross-sectioning and laboratory analyses. I am also proficient in on surface finishes such as Electrolytic gold, ENIG, HASL, Immersion tin, and OSP. Here are few of my key achievements:1. Micro via filling optimization: Improved filling performance and long-term product reliability, generating $1.3 million in revenue and $4 million from scheduled orders. 2. Throwing power improvement in pulse platers: Reduced rework rate by 80% for high aspect ratio/critical products.3. Pattern plating optimization: Implemented eductor nozzles for high-frequency PCBs, enhancing laser via hole throwing power from 50% to 95%.4. HF antenna sharpness improvement: Enhanced sharpness profile through design corrections in DI systems, achieving lower insertion losses with sharper antenna features.5. Copper recovery and in-line etchant regeneration: Generated approximately $12.5k in annual revenue.6. Eco-friendly alternative to peroxide etching: Introduced an oxygen adsorption and infusion method using Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA).7. Machine qualifications: Qualified various lines including Oxide coating removal, Palladium direct metallization, and Plasma etching. Show less
