      Oct 2006 - Oct 2007
Junior Designer - Outdoor Goods Creation

Every career starts with a bit of knowledge and a bit of passion. As an awarded graduate of Rhode Island School of Design I was quickly hired into a dynamic outdoor design team as a pack and accessory designer. Utilizing my industrial design skills I was given a running pack line and the leeway to solve the age-old issue of water movement in a hip pack. The solution was internationally sourced and sold, and remained a core piece of the GoLite line until the demise of the business some 10 years on. Show less

Designer, builder, processor, CNC operator, welder, assembler. As second-in-command to the owner I was tasked with all roles pertaining to the construction of bicycles for Lenz Sport. Using extensive metalworking and machining knowledge gained from RISD metal shop proficiency, I created bicycles from nothing more than tubing and aluminum block. • Performance Bicycle

      May 2009 - Aug 2012
      Sales Associate - Consumer Sales

As a designer with a myriad of skills, it could be seen as a step back to sell bicycles, but in fact that couldn't be further from the truth. In my 3 years of bike sales I learned lessons a desk job could never teach me. Leveraging inquisitive skills, I was able to see user bellcurve data, judge current outdoor trends and culture, and receive consumer and athlete insights. All of this was minute in comparison to the interpersonal, teambuilding, and salesmanship skills that were honed each day. Recently, the store manager admitted our team was the best ever assembled, with sales far exceeding regional goals and customer retention at an all time high. Show less

    • Jamis Bicycles

6 months to create a cruiser bicycle design of the future, without brief or direction.Assigned by the VP of Jamis to a full design package for a new frame style to boost cruiser bike sales. Incorporating known manufacturing processes I set about researching via consumer insight and competitive products. Utilizing illustrator I blended old and new design aesthetics to best fit the target consumers. Once complete the design was then hand rendered with on-trend color pallets and advertising forethought. This design process involved a whopping 300+ sketches to make sure the for both fit riding norms and also looked spot on. Show less

    • BolderPath Inc.

      May 2010 - Jan 2013
      Design Director - Softgoods Creation

Tactical small team director leading soft-goods creation and manufacture.Leveraging a small team in grave-to-cradle construction we would focus on end-of-life reclamation and re purpose soft-goods for businesses such as Freeman and Microsoft. Utilizing my construction expertise I would lead the team in micro manufacturing runs of: collection, cleaning, processing onto bolts, patternmaking, cutting and industrial sewing. All the while providing the team with detailed construction drawings and aggressive timing goals. Whilst most runs were sub 300 pieces it was common to do concurrent runs where both short term and long term projects were being handled concurrently. As a skilled mentor to new hires I would create trust through strong communication and collaborative solution sharing complex problems. With this tact I was able to motivate and develop diverse talents. The bags re purposed from Microsoft's previous years trade show banner were the center point in their sustainability goal setting. The commuter pack inspired by the Fibonacci spiral that was designed, patterned, prototyped, and sewn together by myself is still the most useful bag in my repertoire. Show less

Product Line Manager - Softgoods Creation

Overseeing direction of over 3,000 SKU's to the profit of +16% growth in a down market. In my three years of project management with the Coleman Company, I have had the opportunity of working with most of the top retailers in North America. Through detail oriented briefs and comprehensive presentations gaining sales buy-in I was able to regain ownership of my market as 1 in every 2 life jackets sold is a Stearns. In 2015 alone I oversaw the release of 250+ new SKU’s setting the pace for the industry. The return on our investment was a previously un-achievable +16% at POS. 60% of ALL children (30 to 50lbs) in the US own a Puddle Jumper® life jacket. I am currently listed on 2 patents for my designs involving innovations to the life jacket which were both approved by the U.S. Coast Guard. I was also most fortunate to see my product for sale in a Costco as far away as Sidney. Show less
