  For this 8-week internship, I was positioned under the Publications Unit, which manages the magazine Penang Monthly, one of Penang Institute's main publications.-Performed research and drafted interview questions; contacted potential interviewees via email and phone. -Conducted in-person and virtual interviews with Penang's residents, from business owners to members of the public; Transcribed interviews. -Wrote (and co-wrote) articles on various topics related to Penang. For the October issue, I wrote a cover story on the state's digital onboarding, a piece on elderly Penangites and smartphone use, and a piece on Sea Breeze, a Penang seafood business. For the December issue, I wrote a feature on young expatriates living and working in Penang, and one on Penang Philharmonic Orchestra. -Took clear photos and videos to accompany articles.-Assisted other interns and employees at Penang Institute when needed.   Business, Operations and Marketing Internship Experience

  A three-day virtual internship experience, which offers insights into careers in Business, Operations and Marketing.-Learnt from industry leaders and experts including Google, BBC Studios, British Airways, Garter, Virgin Media etc. on topics such as structuring sales pitches, HR management, e-commerce strategies, transmedia storytelling and digital marketing strategies.-Gained a basic introduction to digital marketing channels, which included search marketing (SEO and SEM), display marketing (banner image ads) and social media marketing (organic and paid). -Delivered a work sample based on task set by Google: created a marketing plan and budget allocation for the expansion of a flower delivery business into a new city. This included market and demographic analysis and the employment of SWOT analysis and SMART objectives.-Networked with fellow interns, engaging in self-reflection as well as peer review and feedback sessions on the work sample, offering constructive feedback to partner and assessing the strengths and weaknesses of own work.
