    • Marmoset

      Sept 2012 - Nov 2016

In conjunction with my Digital Team Lead position, in early 2016 I took on the positions of Product Owner and Scrum Master at Marmoset. During this time, my team grew to three developers, as we focused on bringing our software development in-house. In doing so, we were able to quickly create and implement software solutions for both our users and staff, while receiving real time feedback from stakeholders in order to continuously improve the product. It was during this time that I received Scrum Master training and implemented Agile / Scrum methodologies to better streamline my team's workflow while increasing transparency on what software was being developed. These two positions entailed the following responsibilities:Product Owner- Collaborated with both internal and external stakeholders to find bottlenecks and pain points within the licensing process.- Communicated business needs to the development team and worked together to create software solutions.- Managed the product backlog in order to prioritize various features in preparation for bi-weekly development sprints.- Once software was deployed, facilitated training sessions for staff to familiarize them with new features.- Received feedback from stakeholders in order to continuously improve the software solutions built for them.Scrum Master- Facilitated the Scrum Agile project management framework for the development team by leading daily huddles, sprint planning, and removing impediments in the development team’s workflow.- Communicated expectations regarding timelines and product completion with the Leadership Team.- Conducted sprint retrospectives to discover more effective and efficient ways for our team to collaborate with both stakeholders and each other. Show less As Marmoset's Digital Team Lead, I oversaw a department that changed in size, responsibilities, and function over a nearly two-year period. I was solely responsible for the department's sales numbers, which included both e-commerce as well as email and phone transactions, and accounted for up to one-quarter of the company's quarterly gross revenue.Additionally, I managed Marmoset's Webby Award-winning music licensing and e-commerce app. Under my oversight, my team transformed a simple music streaming app into Marmoset's central sales software, which combined sales data with user listening behavior to provide deep insight into the world of sync licensing. Furthermore, by centralizing our sales processes into one system, we were able to greatly increase the efficiency of multiple departments.Over the lifetime of this position, I managed a team of anywhere between three and five staff members, including software developers, copywriters, and music licensing coordinators, as well as a multitude of vendor relationships, including software development companies, SEO and marketing agencies, as well as branding and design studios. As a member of the Leadership Team - Marmoset's five person management team consisting of four team leads and the CEO - I was an integral part of high-level decision making pertaining to the growth and evolution of the company. As a team, we created a mission statement, company values, and set Key Performance Indicator (KPI) goals, and then implemented company wide strategies to achieve said goals.Additional responsibilities for this position included:- Digital strategy: working with copywriters and content strategists to develop a cohesive strategy for reaching customers via social platforms, blogs, and editorials.- Providing weekly reports on sales, site traffic and activity, and marketing conversion.- Conducting employee reviews based on key metrics and goals created each quarter. Show less The role of Music Licensing Coordinator at Marmoset entailed two main responsibilities: on the one hand customer service, and the other, license pricing and sales. As the main point of contact for Marmoset's e-commerce customers, I was responsible for fielding a shared inbox of 120+ weekly inquiries, outlining the terms and prices of potential licenses, and providing technical support.During my time in this position, I visited some of Marmoset's major markets across the US in an effort to engage both current and prospective clients, who ranged from small video production companies to large corporate advertising agencies. Additional responsibilities for this positions included:- Working with music publishing companies and record labels to clear the licensing rights for select tracks within the Marmoset catalog.- Negotiating pricing and license terms with clients to provide the necessary coverage for each project.- Providing occasional music searches to clients in need of music options. Assistant

Hard Land Management boasts a talented roaster, including established mainstream acts like Beth Ditto (of the Gossip), touring indie bands such as Austra and Lower Dens, as well as other developing acts. Having access to bands in very different stages of their career has provided me with the understanding of the work and strategies necessary to grow artists' listener base, how to keep those listeners engaged, and how to monetize and reinvest in that engagement. Artist management is a fast-paced, never-know-what's-next type of field that stresses attention to detail, clear communication, and logical and decisive decision making. This environment is where I thrive – I'm able to quickly receive instructions, communicate needs, and deliver results in an efficient and timely manner.Responsibilities include:- Maintaining multiple calendars for each artist and manager simultaneously while communicating changes and conflicts.- Interfacing with booking agents to assist in tour routing, announcing, and promotion.- Advertising shows and venues in coordination with promoters in order to increase ticket sales.- Communicating directly with artists to receive deliverables, communicate deadlines, and solve any issues that might arise in their day-to-day.- Creating social media posts and advertisements for music releases (single, albums, videos, remixes) and show dates (concerts, festivals, TV appearances)- Gathering assets and figures from labels, distributors, and publicists to submit for grants. - Booking complicated travel routes through Europe and North America by air, train, and bus. - Working within third party apps including Master Tour, Photoshop, SongKick, Bands in Town, Facebook Business Manager, and a few booking agency dashboards.
