    • Iran University of Science and Technology

      2001 - 2005
Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) Metallurgical Engineering

Major: Industrial metallurgyThesis: Wear of dual-phase steel in comparison to its normalized microstructure

    • Sharif University of Technology

      2005 - 2008
Master of Science (M.Sc.) Metal Forming

Major: Metal formingThesis: Improvement of workability of steel in rod drawing

    • University of Alberta

      2008 - 2015
Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) Materials Engineering

Major: Mechanical property- microstructure correlation in microalloyed steelThesis: Manufacturing of thick X100 steel plate

  • Experience

    • Tabriz Machinery Manufacturing Co.

      Jun 2003 - Sept 2003
      Quality Control Engineer

As an intern I was responsible for:• Performing regular materials integrity testing including hardness, tensile and metallography with quality control team• Familiarized with sand and CO2 molding techniques

    • Tabriz Petro-chemical Complex

      Jun 2004 - Sept 2004
      Corrosion Engineer

This was an internship program that I participated in. My main focus was:• Monitoring the operation of the cathodic protection system for underground pipelines • Aiding the corrosion engineering team in analyzing the malfunction of deep cathodic protection wells

    • Iran Alloy steel Co.

      Aug 2005 - Dec 2007
      Materials Engineer

      • Discovered the root cause of the excessive brittleness problem of rod products and implemented corrective measures• Conducted FMEA and statistical analysis on the failed products and designed experimental procedure using DOE method • Evaluated chemical composition, charpy and tensile properties of the failed rods received from customers • Performed microstructural analysis using SEM, TEM and optical microscopy• Prepared detailed technical report according to company’s standard and suggested corrective measures• Maintained a constructive relationship with other members of the team during the course of the project Show less

    • University of Alberta

      Sept 2008 - Sept 2015
      Research assistant

      • Introduced a new method for modeling microstructure evolution of microalloyed steel for non-isothermal cooling regimes• Proposed a new analytical model based on first principals for bainitic transformation that facilitate assessment of steel hardenability• Developed a novel method to estimate volume fraction of different morphologies of ferrite in microalloyed steel and their contribution to hardness and yield strength • Established a close cooperation with the industrial partner of the project (EVRAZ Inc.) to tailor the generated knowledge to fit specific needs of the company Show less

    • Algonquin College

      Sept 2015 - Jan 2018
      Instructor

Responsibilities include:- Teaching engineering course namely: • ENG 8305 - Metallurgy and Polymers • ENG 8313 - Measurement Principles • ELN 9104 - DC/AC Electronics • CHE 8087 - Models and Matter • CAD 8300 - Computer Aided Design and Drafting

    • Algonquin College - Office of Applied Research & Innovation

      Jan 2017 - Aug 2018
      Principal Investigator

We were building an autonomous vehicle!I was involved in this project since its inception. With the help of our industrial partner and some knowledgeable folks at the Applied Research Office, we secured a joint OCE, NSERC VIP1 grant for this project. My main task in the project was to lead the mechanical design team to design and make control systemsfor steering and braking of the vehicle. On the side, I also served as a Python collaborator for our electronics and control team.

      Jan 2018 - now

Migration to cloud is at the top of the list of priorities. We work closely with the scientist at Geological Survey of Canada to help them use AWS and Azure cloud for computing and data archiving and data management. 1- Apply machine learning to predict performance of a mineral processing plant.2- Looking for methods to reduce carbon emission from ferrochrome production.
