Jan 2010 - Jan 2012Property Scoper/TechnicianAt SOS, I was a post fire inventory technician for the insurance industry. This is highly independent work, requiring work in less than optimal conditions... in burnt remnants of houses/structures during all types of weather conditions, and always under strict deadlines. I was responsible for initial contact with the home owner, explaining what I would be doing to assist them, gathering inventory data from the homeowner and helping them with the post-fire reconstruction of lost property process, strict attention to detail while inventorying all remnants of property still in the home by using audio and visual electronic equipment. The post inventory process includes: reviewing digital audio files and Microsoft Excel documents, utilizing various computer programs to process the audio and visual data, uploading files to ftp sites and resolving any issues and conflicts the client may have with the insurance company. Every job required me to develop a relationship with the homeowner, through good oral communication and by showing empathy and understanding for their state of mind, to better facilitate communication and trust. Most of the jobs entailed up to two weeks of solo work; meeting with the client when needed and calling into the supervisor with semi-daily updates on the status of the project. Show less

When I started working for GWS I was responsible for approximately 12 well site security guards. Within a couple months we’d tripled our work force, and by the time I was laid off, the company was back down to a bare skeleton crew of security guards. While working for GWS I was responsible for interviewing potential employees, conducting background checks, scheduling, and managing employee call-offs at all hours of the day, orchestrating training schedules, designing and maintaining the company web site, designing business cards and marketing pieces as well as monitoring radio transmissions from the guard stations on the well pad sites. This was a 7/24 hour job with no “down time” due to employee call-offs or personal issues. Show less

I published this bi-monthly magazine through 2020. This magazine was a non-profit. Responsibilities included, but were not limited to: generating advertising and editorial, researching and writing articles, creating covers and artwork within the magazine to compliment features, layout of the magazine, typesetting, collaboration with PSG officers on events to cover/attend, negotiations with printers, press checks on-site, delivery of magazines to the membership.
