      Dr Rivett over 2016-21 dovetailed his consultancy activity with a part-time (50-70% FTE) Research Fellow position at the University of Strathclyde in the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering. The position (ended in March 2021) focused on the delivery of published research from the Scottish Government funded Climate Justice Fund - Water Futures Programme designed to support the Government of Malawi in meeting the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 6 ‘to ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all’.       Michael has a significant academic research background in Contaminant Hydrogeology that underpins his consultancy work conducted through GroundH2O Plus Ltd based in Birmingham founded by him in 2016. He specialises in the assessment and remediation of groundwater contaminated by organic chemicals including L/DNAPLs and radiological contamination. He specialises in the delivery of applied research and training with clients that include the Environment Agency, Sellafield Ltd, British Geological Survey, CL:AIRE, National Nuclear Labs, Universities and working with other consultancies and their industrial clients. He has served as Chair of both the Geological Society Hydrogeological Group and the International Association of Hydrogeologists - British Chapter.
