      —AmeriCorps member for the Community Technology Empowerment Project (https://spnn.org/ctephistory), based at the St. Paul Public Library Sun Ray Branch site in East Saint Paul. —Provided tutorial assistance with electronic/print resources encouraging workforce skills development and digital literacy acquisition for library users, most of whom had the goal of improving their career prospects and their families' economic well-being. —Independently facilitated a daily 3-hour Open Lab available to the general public that offered job leads, resume/ cover letter review, and guidance navigating online applications.—Implemented community surveys and used data collection methods to analyze characteristics of current program users and expand our services to under-served populations. —Communicated with recruiters from local companies who were hiring, to invite them to host informational tables during Open Lab hours.—Developed adult education courses focusing on computers and technology, responsive to community interest. Instructed classes on topics ranging from Basic Internet & Email, to Microsoft Office, Resume Writing, and creative media workshops, for groups of 3-10 students both at the public library and inside the Ramsey County Correctional Facility. Administered the Northstar Digital Literacy Assessment as a way to measure whether instruction allowed students to meet learning objectives.—Built rapport with jobseekers, students, incarcerated individuals, English language learners, and immigrant/refugee populations. Encouraged a diversity of people to consider the library as a partner for lifelong learning.—Collaborated with community partners, volunteers, and colleagues to strengthen library programming through my membership on the library's system-wide “workPLACE Committee." —Completed a group civic engagement project working with middle school youth to build awareness of career opportunities (https://spnn.org/blog/ready-today-prepared-tomorrow). Other tools available include Industry Profiles, Career Explorer, Find Employers, and publications geared towards the career planning needs of students enrolled in high schools and colleges. Show less —Interview a high volume of job seekers each day. Use active listening and questioning techniques to assess job seeker's transferable skills, interests, and employment goals. Identify barriers to successful job search then help the job seeker explore possible ways to overcome those barriers. —Meet by appointment with recently unemployed Oregonians for a personalized Welcome Conversation to introduce them to WorkSource Oregon services, work search requirements for Unemployment Insurance, and available community resources. Discuss job prospects for their customary or desired occupation, as well as training programs, apprenticeships, scholarships, self-employment options.—Advise and assist with resume-building and interview preparation. Offer suggestions for improvement with the goal of coaching each individual towards a sustainable, long-term job placement, whether that be in the same occupation or as a career-changer. Maintain knowledge of local industry needs and industry-specific career progressions to deliver relevant job search support.—Demonstrate the features of digital workforce development tools, such as Quality Info labor market information system, iMatchSkills job matching website, O*Net, CIS Online, Career One Stop; teach jobseekers the computer skills necessary for digital inclusion on these platforms. —Utilize critical thinking, analytical reasoning skills to gather information and apply laws, rules and policies to solve problems and make decisions regarding unemployment insurance or program eligibility, often within high-stress situations at the WorkSource Center's information desk or on inbound phone calls.—Conscientiously manage assigned responsibilities as the WorkSource Lane Social Media Administrator, Computer Workshop Facilitator, and Business Services Administrative Support.—Work in multiple computer applications daily including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, Facebook Business, Hootsuite, Google Business Suite.
