I used CNN to perform Facial Expression Recognition and I had done an in depth study of CNN before starting my project.In recent years, FER has achieved amazing performance on laboratory-controlled facial expression datasets, which human faces are all frontal without any occlusion. However, problems of illumination variation, occlusion, and pose variation are challenging FER. To improve the performance of FER in the real life databases, it is important and necessary to address the issues of occlusion and pose variation.The purpose of the my project was to develop a robust deep learning model that can improve the performance of FER in the real life databases.
