  Data Acquisition & Controls Systems Engineer

  Technical Management: • Managed all the Safran Data Acquisition and GE Controls Systems hardware/software for both RR's Production and Development Aerospace test facilities.• Managed multidisciplinary technical engineering projects ranging from Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, and IT. Each of which required extensive collaboration with various specialists, and contractors, with proper management of budget, schedules, and risk.Controls Engineering:• Administered 3200 engine performance parameters for data acquisition and post test data analysis.• Maintained the calibration of all the facility equipment sensors and arranged the shipping of speciality sensors to external suppliers. • Implemented redundant PROFINET network for integrating all the facility IOs, hardware and automation software. • Programmed all the controls logic for facility equipment used for aero engine testing.Examples of facility equipment included: - Water Ingestion Skid (used for simulating rain and ice conditions during engine tests) - Hot Oil Skid (used to simulate low viscosity oil performance within the engine bearing chambers) - Cold Start Skid (used to test an engine under -40 degC temperatures for air and fuel) - Oil Cooling Skid (used to provide the electrical generator of an engine with oil cooling) - Hydraulic Loading Unit (used to simulate 3200 psi of hydraulic loads to the engine's pump) - EEC cooling system (used to provide automatic cooling to the Electronic Engine Controls Unit during engine testing)Continuous Improvement:• Upgraded obsolete GE controls hardware & software for improving PLC system performance and capabilities.• Implemented patch panels and network switches for arranging cables, and wires which connect to all the controls systems hardwire. • Adding further digitization to the plant for more efficient data acquisitions and safety monitoring.
