My graduation film where I first started to establish my method and workflow. It was a small post-production crew but I worked with a sound designer as well as a composer throughout the process.Caught in the Headlights is an award-winning short film directed by Christopher Bevan, written by Adam Lock and produced by YSP Media. The film follows Keith (Neal Higham), a taxi driver going through a midlife crisis; nothing is going right, he takes the night shifts to forget his worries and buries his issues. One particularly catastrophic night he decides to make a change and face his problems head on.The film was mostly funded through a month long fundraising campaign launched at the end of January 2012. Initially aiming to raise £1000, the target was reached within the first two weeks and the film ended up raising just over £1800 with 70 contributors from the UK and abroad. Filming took place in Derby between 9th-11th March.Official Selection - iD Fest Derby 2013Nominated for Best Editing & Best Soundtrack, Watersprite Film Festival 2013Transitions Film & Video Showcase 2012 - Best PictureTransitions Film & Video Showcase 2012 - Audience Choice AwardOfficial Selection - The Smalls Film Festival 2012, Best Drama NominationOfficial Selection - Screen Stockport 2012, Runner Up Best University Short FilmOfficial Selection - Screentest Film Festival 2013 Show less

Relik - short horror film played entirely backwards. My first proper horror genre edit, the film was quite straight forward as it was mostly single takes played backwards but this project allowed me to work with special effects as well as a sound designer to create a really eery atmosphere.

The film had a lot of script problems that weren't solved in pre-production which proved a problem for post-production. I worked the film into a new structure to give it a clear story arc as well as giving the character a progression through the story. With more added voice over by the scriptwriter, the film proved to be successful in getting it's message across and remains my proudest piece of work.Julian has a problem; every woman he meets turns into a chair. After trying to make it work with his girlfriend-turned-furniture-piece, he becomes desperate for love.Funded via IndieGoGo campaign indiegogo.com/projects/love-other-chairsGrand Prix, In Short Film Festival 2014Official Selection The Short Cinema 2014Official Selection Thurrock Film Festival 2014Top 20 Finalist Viewster Online Film Festival 2014 Show less

Happy New Year as part of the Pears Foundation.A unique and bittersweet coming-of-age tale about ten year old Michael Cohen. Michael’s world is a confusing mix of Jewish tradition and secular society, a result of his father, Ben, “marrying out”.When Michael realises a spelling test falls on Rosh Hashanah, his father’s Jewish heritage becomes an opportunity to skip class. Underneath this simple tale, Happy New Year tells a deeper, universal story about how identity confusion can lead a child to behave in unexpected and unusual ways. Show less

I was responsible for prepping edits for the editor. To do this I would look at the brief and check with the footage, formed an idea of how to log it and checked with the editor to see if that's what they wanted. This way I made sure that what I was doing would definitely allow the editor to come to the project, easily access footage and over all speed up their edit time.I also worked as a production assistant from time to time to help on shoots that needed the extra help. My main contribution on these shoots was to help the camera team run efficiently by helping with equipment. Show less

Short Film - ButterflyWorking on a short drama film as co editor. The film required a very slow style of editing to let the film breathe, there was a lot of work put into the structure - taking scenes out or moving them around to come up with a character and story arc that worked best.

Working on short film 'Shiner'. A short that require a lot of special effects. As the edit developed, I kept in constant contact with the special effects, feeding back and forth on what footage he needed and getting and inputting the finished effects into the final film.Shiner' a.k.a Neville Dunston is delusional old aged pensioner who believes he is a crime-fighting superhero. Can he capture the criminals, defeat his nemesis and overcome a weak bladder? At night, Shiner patrols the quiet sleepy village of Moorhaven, but to him it’s Gotham city. Things take turn for the worst when our plucky hero encounters his two mortal enemies, the fearful ‘Limpet’ and the evil matron at his nursing home. Show less

Working on two 24 minute documentary style programs - A Day In The Life, which offered a behind the scenes look businesses, and Nottingham Now And Then, which looked at the history of famous Nottingham landmarks, for broadcast on Notts TV. I worked alongside the producers to form a narrative out of the interviews and demonstrations. The projects always had a tight turn around and required editing over 3 days. The time we had to work on it was so tight that I would do exports and uploads in my own time at home.I took care of the MXF exports for TV broadcast, making sure the program was safe for broadcast, as well as sound mixing to the correct levels. A show looking back at Notts TV first year on air. A project where I worked with different pieces of footage to find the best pieces that represented that programme. This involved looking through many hours of programs trying to find soundbites for short montages that would form a comedic sequence in the show.

I was here originally here for a 6 week temp job after attending a training course. My role at VET was a mix of post-production runner and front of house as well as the tech team. Being a small team of people, this role required a very hands on approach and quick learning to the many tasks that were required of me.

A continuation of my role at VET but with a shift towards a more technician role. I’ve taken on many new skills as part of the support tech team which I’ve learnt on the job as well as through personal research. In my time here I’ve helped with program delivery, file encoding, edit prepping and syncing, doing non-broadcast QCs, DVD authoring and troubleshooting on Avid Composer.
