  ARTICLE 19 is an international civil society organisation working for social justice and accountability with a focus on the right to freedom of expression, and information. My training concentrated on aiding in the facilitation of various projects under the three main programs in the organisation: the right to information, freedom of expression and civic space. I assisted in:Developing policy concepts on data protection and privacy in Eastern Africa.Attending and submitting recommendations on various relevant legislation during public hearings at the Senate.Attending, observing and participating in different meetings on behalf of the organisation e.g. the Open Government Partnership (OGP) steering committee, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Forum coordinating committee as well as the Parliamentary Initiative Network (PIN) committee.Organising and facilitating of training workshops on access to information.Undertaking an in-depth scoping study on Open Contracting in Kenya.   I managed the "COVID-19 Response in Africa: Together for Reliable Information" project which focuses on supporting the provision of reliable and critical information about the Covid-19 pandemic management in 17 Sub-Saharan countries. The project interventions sought to support journalists and media in Sub-Saharan Africa to perform their essential role in democracy in a safe and secure way by providing the essential, timely support and materials to independent media and journalists. It further aimed to enhance their role of providing quality and reliable information and to help them overcome the risks they are facing during the Covid-19 pandemic. Additionally, the project envisaged providing emergency intervention sub-grants to journalists and media houses who, as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic crisis, were not able to sustainably adapt and survive the crisis.
