The objective was also to establish the Industrial Ecology Division as a credible player in the waste market.My responsibilities included:conducting market research, technical and financial feasibility studies for the identification and co-processing of alternative fuels and alternative raw materials. developing and assisting in the management of waste treatment facilities for the processing of waste derived fuels. Managing existing pre-treatment facilities such as the oil sludge blending platform and the development of new pre-treatment facilities. Identifying and source alternative fuels and alternative raw materials from waste for utilization by the cement kilns. Qualify all alternative fuels and alternative raw materials from waste for use in the cement kilns and ensure the adherence to the qualification procedure of Lafarge by all the relevant stakeholders.Developing a good working relationship with the cement plant teams, Lafarge Group Industrial Ecology and the Lafarge Technical Centre. Developing technical opportunity and feasibility studies for any pre -treatment activities necessary to be completed either by Industrial Ecology South Africa or by waste suppliers to increase the usage of alternative fuels and alternative raw materials cement kilns.
