My first and immediate impression of Katie was that she was a leader among her peers. Katie served an informal leadership capacity in her class and formally in a number of teams. Each time she was the organizing glue to help her team accomplish its best. We have remained close friends and colleagues through the completion of her MBA; her coming on staff at the college; the completion of her Ph.D.; her teaching undergrads in our department; her leadership of our adult degree-completion program; and her advocacy of online business education.” Kenneth J. Bates“I have known Dr. Buvoltz for more than fifteen years. I first met Dr. Buvoltz when she was an undergraduate in in my college’s adult education program. It was clear from the very start that she was an outstanding student with tremendous potential. I was especially excited when Dr. Buvoltz found her way back to Houghton and joined the faculty. Dr. Buvoltz is a skilled teacher in the classroom. [Her] evaluations were consistently excellent. Students praised her for her well-organized and thorough lectures, her insightful critique of student work, and her clear classroom and assignment expectations.” Douglas M. Gaerte. Show less Reported to the Vice President of Academic Administration and Dean of the College. Direct reports of a staff of 8 full-time professionals and 1 part-time professional in the following areas: administration; marketing and advertising; recruitment; academic advising; and textbook services. Upon request developed and proposed a new adult ed model for smarter governance and greater alacrity in the growing market. The proposal was adopted concurrent with the college’s implementation of a new governance structure. 3. Initiated and coordinated distant education initiatives at Houghton College. Principal

I founded Higher Ed Creative in 2015, with the goal to help private colleges and universities revitalize their non-traditional programming, energize faculty and staff to maximize results, and help adult students articulate a clear path to degree completion. My services include:Programming Solutions – Assessing current practices against the market and creating strategies to maximize ROI on market investments, and provide growth recommendations. In addition, helping organizations understand the needs of adult learners to build a better, targeted, practice for adult and distance education learners.Faculty & Staff Development – As the result of an organizational audit, provide organizational staff with the necessary tools to help maintain and drive success with training and development programs geared toward effective recruiting and academic advising, leadership development, and personal life management. This will result in an exceptional higher education team, all working towards the same goals, for much better organizational outcomes.Student Success - Improving student retention is an important part of a successful organization. One imperative way to do so is by coaching, motivating and challenging students in an environment where students can freely share their thoughts, and interests. Another way is through Prior Learning Assessment; the process of earning college credit for college-level learning acquired from other sources, something that many adults search for in colleges.
