      Director/Writer/Producer

From a film festival blurb: Michael Wurth began his career as a poet, and straightened out that mistake fairly quickly. He was an independent scholar, script doctor, screenwriter, and director for 15 years. He was discovered writing pastoral rap lyrics while working as an Alpaca shepherd in South America. Or he won first prize in the Maui Writer’s Conference screenplay competition in 1997. That was a while ago.Michael has since directed two independent feature films, several shorts, and has shown his films at over a dozen film festivals and several universities nationwide. For ten years Michael was based in Honolulu where he wrote and directed television commercials, with clients ranging from Oceanic Time Warner Cable to HBO, from the City and County of Honolulu public events to Extreme Fighting promos (these are often confused). His work has won awards at the Maui Writer’s Conference, the Hawaii International Film Festival, the Arizona International Film Festival, the Big Island Film Festival, and MAUIFest. He has also shown his film THE SYMPOSIUM, the first cinematic translation of Plato's dialogue, for classics departments all over the country, and his short film SUNDAY WIND has been invited to join the collection of the Museum of the American Indian in New York City.He also won a Pele Award and a special commendation from the American Advertising Federation for Best Promotional 30 Second Spot for Oceanic Time Warner Cable, and was awarded for a Po’okela from the Hawaii Theatre Arts Guild for Best Drama for MERRY CHRISTMAS, ROBERTA, which Michael adapted for the stage and co-directed with Jon Brekke.Michael's novel THE CHILD AT FORTY can be found on Amazon.com. He now works as a counselor, helping other writers recover from their experience. Show less
