      While an undergraduate I began as a lab assistant in a soil ecology lab. This continued until I was undertaking independent research regarding the effects of invasive plant species on California's grasslands and nutrient cycling processes. This was followed by a 8-month role in UCLA's School of Public Policy, where I was a molecular biologist within a virology laboratory.
