  Summer InternNorthern Indian Railways[june] [2023] – [July] 2023]During my summer internship at Northern Indian Railways, I gained comprehensive insights into the Signal and Telecom sector. My experience involved working closely with advanced systems that are critical to the efficiency and reliability of railway operations. I developed a solid understanding of RAILNET, the Corporate Wide Information System, which facilitates seamless data exchange across the Indian Railways network. Additionally, I explored the Freight Operations Information System (FOIS), which plays a pivotal role in managing and optimizing freight services, significantly contributing to the railways' revenue.My key learnings:-RAILNET Implementation: Corporate Wide Information System (CWIS) of Indian Railways, focusing on its design and objectives, including facilitating efficient data exchange between Railway Board and Zonal Railways.Freight Operations Information System (FOIS): Architecture and milestones of FOIS, understanding its pivotal role in enhancing freight management and operations, which contribute significantly to Indian Railways' revenue.Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS): UTS framework, including its communication interfaces and benefits, which help streamline ticketing processes and improve passenger convenience.Unified Ticketing Network (UTN): Gained insights into the network architecture that supports both Passenger Reservation Systems (PRS) and UTS, emphasizing reliability and cost optimization.Data Loggers: studied the importance of data loggers in monitoring Railway Signal Control and Interlocking relays, contributing to fault diagnosis and maintenance, and supporting accident investigation procedures.Network Diagnostic Tools: I acquired practical knowledge of various network diagnostic tools, including Ping, Traceroute, and NetStat, which are essential for maintaining the robustness and reliability of the railway's communication networks.
