Bae systems
Oct 2001 - Sept 2011Systems engineer, enterprise architect, system architectI undertook a number of roles spanning the Strategic, Systems Development and Operational tiers of Systems and Enterprise Architecture Modelling and business process analysis.June 2010 - Sept 2011: Subcontracted to BP to lead 2 Integrity Management Systems projectsI was responsible for analysing the integrity management system for BP's new asset (PSVM) in Angola. I captured current operational process, areas of significant risk and designed a scenario based real time simulation with live operators. This activity highlighted key risks and gave BP high value feedback of the importance of information for decision making in Subsea operations. The success of the first delivery led to follow on work where BP requested my services through BAE Systems; an analysis of the Block 18 Subsea Operations Integrity Management System. I captured operational process, information exchange and was able to feed back to engineering management the complexity and risk involved with the way operations had organically evolved. I proposed over 30 areas to address systems issues, which formed a 2 year campaign of Continuous Improvement projects, incrementally addressing these issues whilst maintaining current operations. This step change in operations led to my recruitment to BP in September 2011.Key achievements of my time in BAE Systems include:Leading the systems engineering aspects of BAE Systems' entry into 2 new markets (National Security and Oil & Gas)Leading the operational architecture development for a C4I system for a major Middle Eastern customerMastery and optimisation of the use of MODAF and DoDAF, Systems Engineering modelling and analysis Voir moins

Sept 2011 - Sept 2017Whilst successfully delivering optimised Area Schedules within BP's global planning and scheduling process, I have used my systems skills to optimise a significant number of key elements of how this is achieved for the Sullom Voe Oil Terminal.Overall success in 2015 has been measured by a 50% improvement to execution efficiency of the site with my significant individual contributions as follows:Systematic improvement to resource management and levelling across the entire schedule Enhanced resource demand and POB profiles (site manning levels) Enhanced contractor engagementSignificant improvement in plan data quality (in both Maximo and Primavera) Numerous legacy challenges addressed Site based and central team stakeholders engagedActivity readiness improvements Voir moins I led a team of 7 responsible for Information Management, Continuous Improvement, Business Process Analysis, Performance Management, Risk Management and Maximo Work Management optimisation.I used the systems engineering and enterprise architecture skills to ensure systematic execution of business improvement activities in a dynamic Subsea oil production operations environment.Key Successes include:Implementation of Performance ManagementFostering a culture of Continuous ImprovementLead a refresh of the Integrity Management SystemProviding clarity, structure through systematic management in high tempo operationsModelling decision making for numerous company emergenciesLeading Root Cause Failure Analysis on high priority operational issuesMade $10M+ savings to date through efficient use of information management Voir moins

Rumaila operating organisation
Oct 2017 - Nov 2022Reporting to the Head of Operations (Senior Operations Manager, SOM) in Rumaila I was accountable for the delivery of the integrated 8Q and 20Q Schedules. I hosted the monthly Area Integration Meeting with the SOM to resolve issues with the longer term schedules. I was able to identify several gaps with the integrated activity set and ensure resolution of these issues in order to enable the overall business delivery.I worked closely with the reservoir and production management teams to ensure that the oil, gas, water and water injection profiles were achievable by the project portfolio, to ensure that the production committments made to the government of Iraq could be delivered through the realisation of the many integrated projects.I managed the PCP (Plan Change Proposal) process to ensure that any required changes to the portfolio were fully impact assessed and costed. In my final months in the role I led the development of a new strategic planning process to ensure that my successors in this role had a framework to ensure that the portfolio can regularly be assessed to ensure that the projects within will realise the intended business value. Voir moins Known in ROO as the Waterflood Planning Manager, I made this role my own as a diverse and influential role in the Waterflood Operations Team.I was accountable for the preparation of and resolving issues arising from the integrated well delivery schedule. I optimised this process to ensure that the weekly reporting considered the needs of the different stakeholders in Rumaila, and the PoP (PoI) time for Water Injection wells was managed to targets.I learned to code in PowerBI and developed and subsequently added to the Waterflood daily performance dashboard that has remained in service for several years. This data integration brings analytics from multiple sources to ensure that a full picture of relevant issues are presented to leadership real-time.Early in my tenure in this role, it was noted that there was a hydraulic issue with the water injection pipeline system. I was able to utilise my systems engineering skills to bring a multidisciplinary approach to identifying and resolving the issues we faced with the system. I was accountable for a budget of $20M to lead the program management of an intervention plan to resolve the water injection performance. Over a period of several months this interdisciplinary intervention increased water injection by 300Mbd without the addition of significant new infrastructure to the system.I led the engagement with specialist engineering contractors (Penspen) to assess the performance of the pipeline network and I ensured that the resulting technical reports allowed me to write and gain agreement for a sufficiently detailed and implementable SOR for a project to install air release valves along the length of the 48" pipeline network.
