SEA CLEAR (Southeast Asian Campus Learning Education and Retention) Project Director

I provided administrative direction for a multifaceted retention and student engagement program housed under the Community Programs Office that increase student’s graduation and readmission rates, participation in leadership roles, and community engagement. Each year, I supervised 10 paid student staff to provide year-round peer counseling to over 250 students through 2,000 hour-long sessions, mentorship, internship, wellness, and transfer programs to help academically at-risk Southeast Asian students build a community and successfully graduate from UCLA. At the beginning of each school year, our team produces an annual budget proposal to secure $100,000+ for project operations. Throughout the year, we continued to steward and develop relationships with stakeholders on and off campus to increase visibility, funding, and collaborations. In addition to my direct project management responsibilities, I participated in the following:• Presented at the nationwide student affairs professional conference (NASPA) and Asian Pacific Higher Education Conference (APAHE)• In partnership with other on-campus departments, I served on the Bruin Readmission Program (BRP) workgroup to help students readmit into UCLA by reviewing appeals, providing weekly counseling sessions in conjunction with full time academic counselors, connecting resources and tools, evaluating progress, and advising student leadership as they organize skill-building workshops for their peers.• I served as a UCLA Economic Crisis Response Team Department Representative to assess students' financial situations and resolve various financial crises. Our team allocated over $300,000 in grants and reassigned financial aid funding to cover students’ cost of tuition, housing costs, and other unmet basic needs. Vis mindre
