This special distinction, FASE, is conferred by the Society to recognize a member’s distinguished stature, their diverse set of skills and comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of echocardiography. Attainment of this important standard of practice recognizes that Dr. Williams-Phillips is committed to continued excellence in the field of Echocardiography, as it applies to diagnosis and management of cardiovascular conditions, as well as research, teaching and leadership for the advancement of cardiac sonography. The FASE application process is open to all physicians, research scientists and sonographer members throughout the world who have completed their training. This program was established in 2001 and less than 8% of ASE members have earned this prestigious designation. The Society created this distinction to recognize dedicated leaders who have made exceptional efforts to further cardiovascular ultrasound and improve patient care.Members who attain FASE have achieved rigorous credentialing and educational levels and have submitted documentation of their contributions and recommendation letters attesting to their commitment to the advancement of the profession. Candidates undergo an intensive application process that culminates in a vote of approval by a committee of leaders in the field of cardiovascular ultrasound. Once candidates have attained this designation, they are eligible to serve on ASE’s Board of Directors, among other activities.
