  The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts opened in 1996 to forge a new approach to performing arts training. It was co-founded by our Lead Patron Sir Paul McCartney and Mark Featherstone-Witty (LIPA's Principal), and is housed in his old school, which underwent a multi-million pound renovation to transform it into a state-of-the-art performing arts higher education institution.Today LIPA is an acknowledged part of the UK’s higher education provision for the performing arts, recognised and ranked alongside institutions a lot older. LIPA provides learning for the main skills needed for putting on a show (performers and those who make performance possible), uniquely blending specialist and generic skills.LIPA offers degree courses in Acting, Community Drama, Dance, Music Theatre and Entertainment Management, Music, Sound Technology, Theatre and Performance Design and Theatre and Performance Technology. We also run full-time one year Foundation Certificates in Performing Arts (Acting); Performing Arts (Dance); Performing Arts (Singing); and Popular Music and Sound Technology.We train students for a future of sustained work. Most recent figures have shown that over the most recent four year period, 96% of LIPA’s graduates are in work three years after leaving, while 87% work in the performing arts.   Be A Singing Teacher (BAST) is a teacher training program for singers. We aim to inspire great teaching and help singing teachers build a solid business helping others to sing. The BAST course is 20 hour long over 10 weeks. It covers all the basics of becoming a singing teacher from setting up the studio to assessing the voice, addressing vocal issues, when and how to use vocal exercises, basic voice science, vocal care advice, vocal health issues, resources for teaching, building your business and more. There are BAST licensed trainers located in the UK, USA, Spain and soon Australia. Show less

  I am one of a handful of teachers worldwide that has successfully been authorised as a Vocology in Practice instructor. The VocalizeU Teacher Network is a group of Authorised Teachers that use the Vocology in Practice (VIP) method of teaching voice. This means that our teachers have successfully passed our intense application process and have been approved to meet VocalizeU's highest standards. Beyond that, they can demonstrate their abilities in specific areas of vocal instruction and gain ‘special skills acknowledgements’. These acknowledgements help you to select a teacher with expertise in the area you are interested inThe VU Teacher Network is leading the way in vocal education, for both students and teachers. Our mission is to provide a network of specialist teachers with a scientifically proven method of vocal technique for students around the globe. For the benefit of themselves and all other teachers within the VU Teacher network, each specialist teacher is committed to continual learning in the fields of vocal science, vocal technique, and other specialist areas of personal interest.   The Institute of the Arts Barcelona, is a brand new university for the performing arts that offers 1 year foundation certificates and 3 year BA(hons) degrees in Acting, Dance and Musical Theatre. All of our programs are validated by Liverpool John Moores University. At the IAB, I am responsible for coordinating all of the singing activity that takes place, which involves organising the choirs and ensembles, teaching the one-to-one vocal sessions and writing the course content for the delivery of singing across all of our courses. I get to do it in sunny spain which is a mega bonus. Show less
