      Dec 2016 - Mar 2023
      Director

After graduating from University, I established my own company, taking this into a full-time role over the years that followed. This job saw me photograph across the country and abroad, working for and establishing relationships with in excess of 100 different commercial clients including Google, O2, Vice, Travelodge, ZSL, NetBet, and many more. During this role I was responsible for liaising with clients, arranging meetings, taking bookings, managing staff, building websites and marketing the business. During this time I established a large and varied portfolio and client base and have learnt a host of skills associated with both the creative industry and with the running of a company. I still take on a very select number of jobs where possible, although the business has very much been wound down so I can focus on my career in the conservation sector. Show less

      Mar 2023 - Sept 2023
      Shadow Ranger

Placed amongst the Recreation and Wildlife Ranger teams for the New Forest National Park, this role saw me shadow and undertake all aspects of these job roles. Sitting in on internal as well as larger district meetings with a number of local stakeholders & landowners. Whilst shadowing the recreation rangers, this saw day-to-day tasks involving public-facing education and interaction, as well as being reactive to all incidents within the forest. I was also been placed with the wildlife rangers and ecologists, partaking in surveys and undertaking practical conservation tasks on each of the keepers’ beats. These jobs included path clearing, cycle path inspections and maintenance, practical forestry works and conservation management. I conducted dormice surveys on my own on behalf of the ecology team and was also involved in bat, reptile and hydrological surveys whilst in this role. The Shadow Ranger scheme only runs twice a year and is highly competitive, with only 2 Shadow Rangers being accepted into the New Forest team. This role was only a fixed term placement, lasting six months. Show less

    • Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust

      May 2023 - Apr 2024

Responsible for the practical management of our habitats and estates, working closely with the central team Reserves Officers to execute the Trust's annual reserves work programmes across our central sites. Part of a team of 6 that manage an estate of over 725 acres across a mixture of chalk grassland, chalk streams, wetlands, reedbeds, ancient woodland and hazel copiced woodland. This involves hands-on tasks such as habitat maintenance, infrastructure repairs and livestock management, and ensuring the proper use and upkeep of tools and workshops. I contribute to volunteer supervision and training, leading volunteer teams several days per week and participating in the recruitment of volunteers for various roles. For a number of months, I also took on the role of volunteer manager for the Central Team, running recruitment and being a point-of-contact for lots of our volunteer network. I play an important role in raising awareness of the Trust, engaging with the public, highlighting the importance of habitats and protecting rare species, educating about responsible site use, and ensuring proper behaviour around livestock. To ensure the success of the Trust, I actively participate in team, department, and staff meetings, maintaining open communication and fostering a positive culture of sharing and learning. Show less As my role as a warden, I was responsible for the day-to-day care of two nature reserves in the Winchester area. This was a public-facing role and could involve anything from conservation management work, to surveys, to working with livestock or to interacting and educating members of the public. As a part of the HIWWT’s Central Team I was responsible for running the camera trap surveys, regular butterfly transects and bird surveys, as well as weekly mink and water level dip well monitoring across numerous locations within the reserves. An essential part of this role was communicating with the public and being a visual presence to represent the HIWWT on their reserves. I left this role early as I was recruited for my current role, still working for the Trust. Show less
