  Responsible for creative development, editorial content, and acquisition of 70–80 titles annually for this offbeat division; supervising editorial staff; handling P&Ls, budgets, contracts, marketing, sales materials; writing new series; working with packagers and licensors to develop new novelty titles; international and domestic book and toy fairs. Accepted job right after Putnam acquisition. Within a year, PSS was highest grossing children’s division, largely responsible for 54% increase in Putnam sales. Acquired by Smartville after I left.

  Set up L.A. office. Responsible for all aspects of brand management and licensed publishing with Mattel, from new business development and “synergistic” marketing, from quarterly business reviews to creative content development and editorial, and website content/ promotions. Overseeing creation, all content, and production of all Barbie novelty and some Golden novelty titles from concept, writing, art/design, and sourcing to bound book for 2 years. Overseeing creation and sales of certain premium items (not even in my job description—just for fun!), for incremental income in the mid-six figures in one year alone. Profits grew from $10 million to $17 million. Show less
