  3 Day Work-Experience

  Day 1:• Familiarised myself with different asset classes offered by SJP as investment opportunities• Understood the company structure as well as the working model and incentives to work as a self-employed financial advisor.• Observed a meeting with a client requiring a breakdown of their existing pension plan. Followed up with questions of my own regarding details of the offered medium-risk portfolio.Day 2 :• Delved into the intricacies of the Voyant (the model used to accurately project future cash flow based on existing contributions to different investment portfolios). Leant about the assumptions you can set i.e. average portfolio return, rate of inflation• Learnt about the back-end roles and what their day-to-day operations look like• Sat in on 2 client meetings where I learnt about VCT, DFM and offshore investments.• Received a detailed explanation of the tax laws in the UK and how they can be used to make the most tax-efficient investments. Day 3:• Looked into the fees that the company charges and how the cost is split internally between the company and the contractors of SJP• Assisted financial advisors resolve internal client queries by contacting the SJP helpline • Learnt the way a Critical Yield Calculator report is prepared and what variables are required to be assessed before a client can be successfully onboarded into the company Show less
