  Cabin Supervisor and Counselor

  As a Counselor, I was paired with 1-3 campers with disabilities and responsible for supporting them throughout the week adjust to camp, provide personal care support, and build relationships. As Cabin Supervisor, I oversaw 4 other counselors and supported weekly volunteers. I encouraged an environment of teamwork and inclusion within the cabin. I was in this role during the summer of 2014 and 2015.

  Global Peer Ambassador

  As a Global Peer Ambassador, my time was split between the English Language Center and the Study Abroad office. I provided customer service support to prospective study abroad and international students and supported faculty members with administrative tasks. I participated in a weekly Global Conversations group and planned community outings for international students. Each semester, I assisted in facilitating pre-departure orientation for students preparing to study abroad. In this role, I enjoyed promoting cross-cultural dialogue and understanding. Show less

  Head Counselor

  Easter Seals Colorado's Rocky Mountain Village is an accessible summer camp welcoming more than 800 campers with physical and intellectual disabilities each summer. As one of the Head Counselors, I co-led the oversight of programming activity throughout the summer. Additionally, I helped train new counselors in effective and safe personal care techniques and offered support to campers in this area throughout the summer. Certified in medication administration, I assisted the nursing staff in administering camper medications. Show less

  L’Arche GWDC provides homes, residential services, and fosters a place of belonging where adults with disabilities and care staff live together in community. As the Home Life Leader of one of the four community houses in the D.C. area, I lead a group of household members in deepening their understanding of providing mutual care. One of my top priorities was around building a positive, inclusive community environment. I collaborated with the human service team to ensure that top-quality care was being provided within the home. Tasks included facilitating monthly training, overseeing property maintenance, maintaining the house budget, and leading community-wide events. Show less As a Live-In Assisant, I lived and worked in a community home with 4 adults with disabilities (known as Core Members) and 3-6 other Direct Support Professionals. Tasks included providing personal care support for Core Members, medication administration, and support with activities of daily life. I regularly attended doctors' appointments with residents and was well versed in each member's unique health history and needs. As a Live-In assistant, I also participated in regular community activities that were based on relationship building. Show less
