      Aug 2002 - now
      Publishing Operations Manager

The Division of Extension Publishing Unit works with University of Wisconsin Extension specialists and staff to create educational media for the people of Wisconsin. I manage a creative, talented and high-functioning full-service publishing staff. In addition to creating several types of educational media, Publishing Unit staff manage the Extension Learning Store. This ecommerce website offers access to university-based research and continued learning. As part of the Learning Store I provide leadership exploring different pricing models, revenue sharing with specialists, and co-publishing agreements with other publishing units within Extension. My position plays a key role in helping to address institutional risk when it comes to copyright infringement. I work with my Extension colleagues to ensure they understand and follow the copyright guidelines, including meeting with all new colleagues during their orientation to offer information about both copyright and the requisite peer review process for all of the content Extension publishes.Supporting language access is another area of my position that has grown steadily over the past several years. Providing equal access to all of Extension's content is a federal mandate. Working with the Translation and Interpretation Workgroup, the Language Access Coordinator and Editor is now a member of the Publishing Unit. I worked with a small team to expand Extension's product line through the establishment of the UW-Extension Video Channel, and the development of train-the-trainer curricula in support of Extension programming and as a potential source of revenue generation for County and Extension offices.
