I had a great opportunity training medical staff on how to use point of care devices (e.g. blood gas analysers and blood glucose meters) and to ensure that trainees achieve competency with the use of these devices. I updated and maintained their competency details on database systems and managed the barcode database. In addition, I distributed samples for External Quality Assurance to different wards to verify the quality of the Point of Care devices. I performed weekly stock checks and maintenance of Point of Care devices. Aside from my Point of Care duties, I participated in two validation projects of OLO Full Blood Count analyser and the AQT90 Flex Radiometer Immunoassay Analyser. This involved collection of patient samples from the laboratory and testing them on the devices for validity by comparing the results with those from the existing devices. Subsequently, I co-authored a clinical paper on the AQT90 Analyser with the project leader which was recently published on the British Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Show less
