      Learned about the business environment at IBM, assessed ‘Watson Build Challenge’ business plan entries and helped prepare a workshop aimed at defining a Marketplace plan for an IBM distributor in South Africa. I had the opportunity to shadow international executives in the IBM MEA Headquarters and learn about IBM Watson services by creating my own simple visual recognition Machine Learning algorithm at a start-up incubator.

      IBM Wimbledon Championships Internship | Trojan Support

      Worked as part of the ‘Trojan’ team, which deployed and set up a few hundred systems that IBM provides all over the site for guests, press, broadcasters and players to use. When the Championships started, the Trojan team provide a supporting role for the systems which involves testing all machines in the morning to ensure they are fully functional and ready to be used for the day’s start.The team leader provided the Trojan team with specific tasks to be carried out within strict deadlines, which helped improve my task prioritization, team working and time management capabilities as meeting goals was very important to the overall progression of system rollout.Skills used and improved:- Team work - Organisation: ensuring all necessary cables, peripherals and assigned monitors were taken when deploying machines.- Time management: achieving the goals and targets set out by the team leader and IBM team.- Communication: following up on problems that required more expertise with Tech Trojans and my team leader to ensure they would be followed up in a timely manner by the relevant people.- Attention to detail: cable management and tidiness of machines when setting them up to represent the high standards of the Wimbledon brand.- Problem solving in a turbulent environment: finding a solution as quickly as possible by analysing the problems experienced on the hardware or software side for news organisations such as BBC, ESPN and Fox News.       Worked with the Cisco IT Mobility team within the Digital Workplace Transformation organisation and assisted in the migration process for over 50,000 employees worldwide that were being moved from a legacy Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution to one powered by Cisco Meraki.My main role was being a Data Analyst where I was in charge of all data reporting in the team and automating multiple visualization dashboards using Microsoft Power BI that helped the team and management get better insights into support cases, Cisco's managed mobile fleet, the migration status of all MDM users throughout the migration, and the company's spend with carrier partnerships.Main tasks and achievements:- Designed, created and published multiple dashboards linking data from HR, support cases, telecom billing, and Cisco's device fleet to drive automated insights for multiple teams and management.- Led a big effort on data analysis for the Support team through regular stakeholder requirement sessions and building dashboards that have been viewed 2,000+ times in 6 months.- Developed a chatbot with the bots team for employee PC Refresh services using MindMeld and NodeJS. The chatbot utilizes Natural Language Processing (NLP) and is linked to Cisco's WebEx platform to utilize interactive 'cards' that allow a user to place a new laptop order through internal APIs.- Automated a daily email report previously done manually, saving 20 minutes each day.- Re-designed the look and user flow of all Mobility user-facing content - with 50,000 unique visits per year - to O365 SharePoint and reducing user clicks required to get to Cisco Paid Carrier Content from 6 clicks to a maximum of 2.
