As an engineer in training, I did design work in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microstation. I worked on projects for ACHD, ITD, and the Cities of Meridian, Boise, and Nampa. I worked in many aspects of the design process including proposals, budgets, estimates, right of way acquisitions, utility coordination, plan review, and the many stages of design itself. Along with office work, I participated in field work including site investigation, site work, and occasional surveying. I also took part in client meetings to experience client correspondence, design review, and networking. Show less

      Aug 2012 - Sept 2015
      Lead Technician

I mitigated fire and water damage. I was usually tasked with the fire mitigation which consisted of removal of contents, demolition of affected areas, and the cleaning and restoration of the contents by managing a fire restoration line in their warehouse. Water damage consisted of demolition and mitigation of flooded areas and setting equipment to dry area. I would supervise and coordinate teams to complete these jobs. The job also consisted of contact and correspondence with many clients.

      Sept 2015 - Dec 2022

As the pavement management engineer, I was in the Capital Projects and Planning division but worked quite a bit with our Maintenance, Construction, and Development and Technical Services divisions. These duties included:-Manage the pavement management system StreetSaver. My responsibility was to input new roads and keep track of our overall PCI. All road segments that ACHD managed were in that system and included their pavement events history. This program also was used for budget scenarios that allowed ACHD to determine if our current and planned budgets were adequate to sustain our overall PCI.-I was also in charge of selecting our Residential, Arterial, and Roadway and Federal Capital Maintenance segments. I would use StreetSaver to run reports to determine what street segments possibly needed rehabilitation. I would drive them, assess each segment, and build segment lists. These would then get passed on to our Projects department to start the project.-I was part of all project teams. I would attend design review meetings, field reviews, and make pavement recommendations. I would also approve geotech recommendations for each project.-I would select all surface seal segments and develop maps and segment lists for the Maintenance department or Contractors. These projects I would modify and stamp specs. I would also approve the job mix formulas for these projects.-Any citizen inquiry involving pavement, I would be tasked to evaluate that segment. I would determine if it was something that could be fixed by our Maintenance department, need to be programmed into a project, or be left alone and just watched.-I would work with the Construction department and Project Inspectors when a project was getting built if they ran into any pavement issues and I would make recommendations.-I was part of the Pavement Cut Committee which would review any development or utility plans that involved cutting into a road segment that was part of our 5 year no cut moratorium. Show less The main duty was to make sure the utility companies were notified, represented, and involved in ACHD projects. I made sure utility companies and cities knew of ACHD projects and that their utilities were represented in the design. I would be part of design meetings and discuss utility impacts to the design and impacts to construction. This also included field visits to walk project corridors and verify the design plans and try to find any utility conflicts or issues. When projects went into construction, I would work with the utility companies to make sure their relocations or replacements were getting done as to not slow up the construction schedule. Show less
