  SERB-DST Funded Project Research Student

  I had the opportunity to be selected as an Intern at the National Institute of Technology, Durgapur under the above-mentioned SERB-DST funded project under the guidance of Dr. Oindrilla Mukherjee. As an integral part of this project, I was able to independently screen for samples required for the project based on given parameters for Healthy, Gastritis and Cancer donors from NCBI-SRA and obtain pair-end reads using the SRA Toolkit connected to AWS, optimise the Mothur SOP pipeline with respect to the nature of the samples. I have further analysed the samples to obtain rarefaction data in order to construct a rarefaction curve to depict the microbial diversity in the sample pool. I further intend to work into deeper understanding of the microbiota in the gut microbiome through varied computational analytical methods. Recipient of Intern Fellowship (March-April). Show less

  Oral PresentationI was the only student from my country selected for an oral presentation of my work to distinguished scientists at the Pfizer-organised biotech connect symposium, where I received outstanding feedback on my findings. The symposium selected 70 students worldwide from undergraduate, graduate, doctoral and postdoctoral categories for giving them an opportunity to present their work which has the potential to make a positive contribution in health.
