Working with such a diverse population across the county requires a commitment to investigating and keeping informed of new and existing support agencies and services that can support clients with more specific legal and practical concerns related to their bereavement. This role requires a continued commitment to researching techniques and approaches that are developed to support clients in their distress.       I currently run a private counselling practice called Spectrum Counselling Service with a specific aim of offering post diagnostic emotional support to families of children and adults who have received a diagnosis of Autism. My ambition over the next 12 months is to expand my counselling practice to support individuals who have received a diagnosis of Autism and are struggling with an accompanying mental health concern. My ambition in setting up Spectrum Counselling Service reflects a desire to fill a gap in mental heath service provision within North Cumbria and Eden where a number of families who have a child who has received a diagnosis of autism struggle with feelings of guilt, anger and frustration as well as how to cope with and manage change and transition. Alongside reflecting a specific understanding of autism and the impact this can have on an individual.       Lecturer on the Counselling and Psychotherapy MA at the university of Cumbria working from a Person Centred core orientation Research project working alongside Triple A Project to explore the experiences of individuals with a diagnosis of autism in their engagement with regional Criminal Justice service providers as victims, witnesses and services users. As of February this year I have worked with the University to help to contribute toward Social Research projects that the University have been commissioned by public and third sector organisations to design and undertaken. In undertaking this position I have successfully utilised Social Research skills developed from my Social Science degree. As of August 2015 I have been accepted as an academic on an hourly contract to provide academic and marking support to the University of Cumbria's Health and Wellbeing departments National Autistic Society awareness module and Autism Certificate course.
