      Through my time at the county engineers' office; I learned how to draw and maintain county maps of constructed/repaired utilities, addresses, new site developments, and county tax maps. I assisted field crews with surveying for the installation of county-maintained culverts and roads; as well as inspecting the county's 2200+ culverts. During the culvert inspection process, I also created a report log for each structure detailing the findings and anticipated maintenance/replacement dates.

      During my employment with the City of Trotwood, I worked directly along side the City Engineer. My duties included inspecting new concrete, asphalt, and utility projects within city limits. I also developed bid documents and oversaw the bidding and building processes for all public works projects. Maintaining city maps fo constructed/repaired utilities, new addresses, and new developments was also a daily part of this position.

      Employed Trimble software to build and maintain 3d grading files for 17+ pieces of earthmoving equipment. I also utilized Agtek Earthwork 3d, Carlson SurvCadd, and TerraModel software programs for estimating dirt quantities during the bid and building processes. During my time, I also oversaw and scheduled the daily activities of two one-man survey crews using Topcon robotic total stations.       Pancreatic cancer and pancreatitis have affected me directly, both personally and through the relationships that I have built over the years. Understanding that pancreatitis is an extremely painful and often misunderstood disease, many patients will search for answers to their unrelenting pain for several years. In 2008 my personal experience with the disease and the Total Pancreatectomy with Islet Auto-Transplantation (TP/IAT) surgery pushed me to focus my desire to help others who battle diseases of the pancreas. Working alongside the surgical teams' nurse coordinator at UC, I am the one patients and their families are referred to when they are considering the TP/IAT surgery to discuss the reality of life after the surgery.Key responsibilities have included:• Counsel patients who are undergoing the Total Pancreatectomy with Islet Auto-Transplantation (TP/IAT) surgery, answering questions related to pre- and post-surgery expectations• Collaborate with the surgical team to improve the patient experience• Speak with families and caregivers to promote a better understanding of the patients’ pain, emotions, and needs to support a successful recovery• Actively maintain a social network to promote and support the recovery of TP/IAT patients and diabetics, have counseled 30+ patients and their families Show less
