  R+D Engineer (student placement)

  • Part of the Design Assurance lab working with catheter balloons and stented catheters.• Became a subject matter expert on a machine called the Hydraulic Burst Leak Tester (HBLT) which inflates balloon catheters using water, at pressures ranging from 0 to 1000psi.• Learnt to use various computer programs which the HBLT uses to operate. Wrote tests and scripts which comply with the FDA and MDD, which are currently in use.• Liaised with Boston Scientifics’ American Sister Plant, Maple Grove, ensuring R+D, that the catheter testing would cover all the areas required by the FDA.• Helped with validation of the HBLT.• Wrote test methods and trained technicians on how to use the machinery.• Re-designed a water bath that was to be used alongside the HBLT which is still in use within the company today.• Awarded student innovation placement award, for my work during my co-op at Boston Scientific.
