  While at the ANU I achieved two majors in Chemistry and Genetics with Honours in Chemsitry. Apart from my academic studies I also acted as a class representative for several of my classes. This involved listening to complaints and suggestions from fellow students and relaying them to the class coordinators or the appropriate Dean or Director. I was also active in social clubs while at the ANU including the Netball club where I was the social officer. My Honours project was entitled "Towards the asymmetric synthesis of (+)-bicuculline" and focused on the synthesis of the naturally occurring form of bicuculline. During this time I learnt synthetic and analytical techniques as well as scientific writing and presentation skills. - Reorganisation of chemical inventory system- Experimental set-up and calibration of machines- Preparing chemical stocks for undergraduate classes- Working with hazardous chemicals- Laboratory cleaning and hazard Reduction

  The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), is Australia’s leading expert body promoting the development and maintenance of public and individual health standards. Whilst working at the NHMRC I coordinate the peer review of two Fellowship schemes as well as supporting my directors as needed. I have worked at the NHMRC since early 2015 and have found it an excellent learning experience and a great introduction to Government and Science Policy.

  SAGE Project Officer

  ANU is currently completing a two year review of its gender policies and initiatives as part of the Science in Australia Gender Equity (SAGE) Pilot of the Athena Scientific Women’s Academic Network (SWAN) Charter. The Athena SWAN Charter is an evaluation and accreditation program that has been running for over a decade in the UK, with tremendous success in enhancing gender equity for science, technology, engineering, mathematics and medicine (STEMM).In my role as the SAGE Project Officer I coordinate and support the implementation and operationalisation of this pilot project at ANU. This includes assisting with extensive data collection requirements, policy and procedure reviews, and the provision of secretariat services. Show less
