Considerable part of the thesis is devoted to the studies on the factors affecting the delamination and… Show more Thesis title: Delamination and restacking of layered double hydroxides and smectite clays as a route to novel layered phases and composites Summary: My thesis deals with the delamination and restacking of two representative anionic and cationic layered solids such as layered double hydroxides and smectite clays as a route to the preparation of novel layered phases and composites. Considerable part of the thesis is devoted to the studies on the factors affecting the delamination and restacking of layered solids in various solvents. Optimum conditions for the delamination and restacking of these solids are described. A facile and general route for the preparation of nanocomposites of layered solids with suitable guest species is demonstrated. An attempt has been made to prepare layer-by-layer composite of anionic and cationic layered solids through metathesis route. Show less
