Show less Working as Site Engineer in Sunderland (Newcastle), in the construction of the New Wear Crossing project. Project value of £ 117.6 M to build a new road bridge over the River Wear which will be a three span cable-stayed bridge with an A-frame pylon rising to 115m in height. It will have two lanes of traffic in both directions, plus dedicated cycle ways and footpaths along its full length. Some duties include setting out, assisting the section engineer and section manager, site surveying and control and supervision of subcontractors, managing health and safety, quality assurance and programme of ongoing works through to completion. Involvement:Commercial awareness including take offs from drawings in relation to contract specification. Sending out material enquiries, monitoring of plant and labor resources on site. Supervision Utility diversions of Gas (NGN), Water (Seymour), Power (NPG), Virgin Media (McNicholas), Bt) and ducting services. Managing interface of earthworks, piling and concrete subcontractors.Drainage works: Construction of new lines of drainage and manholes with more than 60 Manholes, Gullies and 3 km Pipe. Involved in drainage design change to incorporate CDK (Combine Drainage Kerbs).South abutment: Supervision of first phase of reinforced concrete works.Launch Platform. Supervision of launch platform with 6 reinforced concrete launch pads where the bridge was assembled prior to pylon erection. Structural works: Pile caps, Reinforcement earth platform for south abutment and soil faced reinforced slope wall at bridge pier with TENSAR .
