    • Perdaman Advanced Energy (Previously Enigin WA)

      Jan 2014 - Dec 2016

Both of these roles at Perdaman Advanced Energy (previously Enigin) grew me as a consultant in commercial, government and residential energy efficiency and renewable energy through a diverse mix of solar project management, feasibility studies, business cases, system design, energy auditing, energy monitoring, electricity supply agreements and energy efficiency advisory/implementation. My projects included a lead project management role for the 100 kWp roof-top solar system at a local college and many commercial-scale PV systems for police, private businesses, education facilities and not-for-profit groups.I thrived on both the analytical aspects of the work and interacting with many stakeholders from clients to regulators, contractors to fellow consultants. The small business environment rewarded my natural sense of initiative and autonomy, seeing me take on tasks as varied as business development, blog coordination and marketing. Show less

      Engineer

I worked as an engineer on renewable energy projects, commencing at graduate level. Some people ask me why I adopted a grad position here after several years' previous experience as a consulting engineer in Perth. The reason is that I saw it to be valuable in my development as an engineer, reflecting my personal philosophy of learning and growth. I believe that a grasp on the technical is as important as the soft skills in engineering, and determined to hone my capacity as a professional engineer and renewable energy proponent, I was honoured to pursue my dream career opportunity when it knocked - from the ground up developing my engineering skills in an area I'm passionate about (renewable energy) with a focus on the social impacts of engineering, e.g. technical services in remote areas for individuals or communities at all levels of advantage and opportunity. As an engineer and project manager at Ekistica, I undertook operation and maintenance of the Desert Knowledge Australia Solar Centre (DKASC), ensuring the smooth running of this unique demonstration facility that enjoys international renown and a strong heritage with regional Australia - all the while maintaining a loyal, collaborative and empowering relationship with our client and the many stakeholders connected to the DKASC.Later in my term, I took on a primary management role leading the NT Solar Resource Project, a government-funded initiative to design and deploy solar resource monitoring stations across four selected locations in the NT, which aimed to unlock access to valuable data and underpin studies for solar project development in line with the NT's renewable energy target. My other work at Ekistica included co-authorship of ARENA handbook 'Hybrid Power Generation for Australian Off-grid Mines'; regulatory support for utility-scale solar at a commercial barramundi farm; and numerous engineering, drafting, technical writing and analysis work for remote-area energy supply and infrastructure.
