      • Legalo Headed the Legal Department of MTNL for more than 18 years and was responsible for handling legal matters and monitoring cases before Trial court to the Supreme Court, TDSAT and other FOR A’s.o Briefed Govt. Law officers, Attorney General and Solicitor General, Sr. Counsels in important cases.o Handled Regulatory cases and cases before Telecom Disputes Settlement & Appellate Tribunal.o Besides defending large number of arbitration cases for the company, has also acted as an arbitrator in the matters pertaining to DOT, FCI, MMTC / SAIL etc. Due Diligence • Conducted legal due diligence of the Suntel (a telecom company based in Srilanka) for acquisition of 100% equity stake. Achievements: • Recovered an amount of Rs.342 crs from a major telecom operator of India on account of losses suffered by MTNL due to illegal routing of ISD Calls. • Noida Land Project: Being a part of steering committee of Noida Land Project, instrumental in negotiating terms of agreement with M/s. IDEB. The company earned Rs.48 crs during the year 2007-08 in this deal. • Sales Tax Matters: Writ petitions pending for sales tax liability to the tune of about Rs.958 Crs for Delhi and Rs.239 Crs for Mumbai respectively were decided in favour of MTNL by Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. • Member of Task Force responsible for development of various JV Proposals.• General Administrationo Looked after overall General Administration of MTNL, Delhi Unit having a workforce of approx. 23,000 employees. • Human Resource Planningo Manpower rationalization- Successfully redeployed surplus manpower. • Organizational Restructuring o Improved Company’s Asset Management System• Industrial Relationso Evolved elements of industrial peace in an otherwise turbulent environment with +20 Trade Unions(TU)/Associations and other interest groups.
