    • Wynyard Group

      Mar 2013 - Nov 2016

Wynyard Group was a software development business in the crime analytics and threat assessment sphere.I was the technical business analyst for Wynyard's Investigations Case Management product, working alongside various development and user teams for many successful projects, including:• Providing police organisations with the ability to record and track inventory and exhibits with the goal of reducing theft and misplacement and simplifying regulatory compliance• Improving the system that organisations use to disclose information to relevant parties (e.g., to the defendant in a criminal case)• Working with clients and developers to design and validate a new, vastly simplified security approach as part of a move towards entity-level authorisation in our two crime analytics productsI also improved our user engagement by leading multiple workshops and presentations, all to positive feedback.Throughout my work as a BA, I kept working on software development projects to maintain my technical abilities. I was able to work on even footing with developers, users and management alike.I was also the leader of Wynyard's internal test engineering guild, a role which involved the facilitation of meetings and guild projects and the dissemination of information throughout the guild and the wider organisation. Show less Wynyard Group was a software development business in the crime analytics and threat assessment sphere. My initial internship project was the development of a load-testing framework for the Risk Management product and, upon the successful completion of the project, I was hired directly into a software development and testing role for the same product. Just over a month later I was given the role of scrum master for a team of 4 developers. Some of the projects my team successfully completed over a two-year period include:• Design and implementation of context-dependant object editing screens (aka hierarchy methods)• Design and implementation of import/export functionality for client-created system models• Design and implementation of a view-based reporting system in two separate versions of the product to replace the existing legacy reporting system• Implementation of SSO authentication in the product• Bug-fixes and general maintenance of the product• Technical product support for users Show less

    • Diligent

      Nov 2016 - May 2021

In Apr 2017, I was selected to be the sole BA/PO for a project to overhaul the Boards product’s approach to authentication and external product integration. My title was not formally changed until Sep 2018, but my role was that of a product owner from the beginning, and by mid-2019 had evolved to include many product manager responsibilities as well.My responsibilities and achievements in this role included:• Led design, delivery, and maintenance of a standards-based authentication service with a radically different technology stack and development ethos to the norm at Diligent• Establishing standards (technical and process) for authentication and product integration• Have so far led more than a dozen different cross-product integrations, with several of those involving 3 or more products• Determining and refining the roadmap and immediate backlog for 2 scrum teams simultaneously, including leading refinement sessions, planning releases, and generally working directly with stakeholders and teams to ensure focus on what is most valuable and necessary• Stakeholder engagement with executive level staff, users, and product teams, including ensuring roadmap visibility and regular communication of product updates• Extensive technical and business artefacts, including whitepapers, presentations, recorded and live demos, flow diagrams, PBIs, and much more• Overseas travel to lead workshops on Diligent-wide authentication practices and initiatives as an SME• Kept my technical skills honed with small internal projects – e.g., I designed, built, and deployed a Slack chatbot using Go that retrieves a wide range of service logs from Diligent’s Elastic DB Show less I started out at Diligent as one of two business analysts for Diligent’s flagship product, Boards. My responsibilities and achievements in this role included:• Led a database server upgrade for all environments• Led design and delivery of a significant load balancing optimisation• Led design and delivery of a web-based plugin loader for our desktop app• Led design and delivery of a cross-DC replicated metadata solution (to replace an end-of-life legacy solution)My focus on this product was heavily technical leadership, as that was an identified gap that I was able to successfully fill.
