    • Ann Arbor SPARK

      Jan 2015 - Aug 2017

Ann Arbor SPARK's mission is to grow and stabilize our regional economy by helping companies identify barriers to growth, and the resources to fill them.I managed our business retention and attraction program for Livingston County. I worked with growth-stage companies to help them succeed in our region, which resulted in $34 million of new investment during my tenure as Lead Business Development Manager.I managed our relationship with the Economic Development Council of Livingston County (EDCLC), the nonprofit organization that serves as the fiduciary for SPARK's Livingston County program, in partnership with our Senior Vice President. In addition to conducting regularly scheduled updates to our municipal and private sector partners, we facilitated the EDCLC's first visioning session, where we did a deep dive into the mission and direction of the organization. This change management initiative resulted in a series of smaller follow-up meetings to help the board implement the changes that we discussed, and more importantly how to make them sustainable. Some of my favorite projects at SPARK were in the talent-pipeline building arena. I was a founding member of the Livingston College & Career Access Network, formed in 2016 as a local partner of the Michigan College Access Network. We focus on connecting students with industry, and increasing FAFSA completion rates for Livingston County student. I also helped to facilitate and manage the Ypsilanti Youth Career Expo, which was a day-long professional development experience for eighth graders in the Ypsilanti Community Schools district. We had over 100 students participate in 2016, and even more signed up in 2017. The program was very successful, and will continue for years to come. Lastly, I worked with Pinckney Community Schools to help them pursue a competitive grant that allowed them to fund their new Cyber Training Institute, making them one of only two recipients of the grant.
