Ensured that the assessment was completed on time and to a good standard. •Tested a new tutorial for assessing Abnormal Indivisible Loads on the Avonmouth Bridge and ensured that it was comprehensive and easy to understand. •Checked a number minor drawings to make sure that the dimensions on each drawing corresponded to the dimensions that were held on the computer database in the office to ensure accuracy.   •Undertook training on new processes for culvert assessments and how to create more complicated models on the LUSAS Modeller software.•Completed a complicated culvert assessment on the M4 and finished it on time and to a high standard.•Checked calculations for a senior structures engineer and corrected and advised the errors. This improved my understanding of engineering mathematics.•Trained a new “Year in Industry” student in how to complete culvert assessments. Ensured that they knew what was involved and where to find all the relevant information and supported them through the start of their first assignment. This developed my teaching skills. Show less

  •Completed a full assessment on the Wick St Lawrence Overbridge on the M5. Created complicated LUSAS model to analyse loading on the bridge deck and used SAM-LEAPS to create sections for capacity calculations. Finished within schedule and to a good quality.•Assisted with Pier Impact Management Scheme, and provided new rankings to all the piers on the South West network.•Created reports from two separate culvert assessments which documented findings and recommendations from the assessments.•Undertook Health & Safety training to allow access to the motorway network.   Working within the Structures Investigation Group satellite office in Bristol, increasing their capability to take on larger projects.Working on projects with a more managerial role and being the lead engineer on structural inspections.Designer Representative on the Bristol MetroBus between the Long Ashton Park & Ride and Bristol Temple Meads station. In this role of the point of contact for the contractor during the construction phase for any design queries, quality checks and sign-off prior assembly for certain elements. Also undertook the same role on Bromley Heath Viaduct during periods of increased activity on site.Assessment of four span railway bridge of multiple construction types (concrete arch, steel girders & Prestressed concrete) for Network Rail using Archie-M and hand calculations. I have undertaken numerous Principal Inspections including:- Chiswick Bridge, London- Fore Street Tunnel, London- 23No structures on trunk roads near Carlisle- 49No structures on the Somerset County Council asset listI have also undertaken concrete corrosion testing to:- Chiswick Bridge, London (Internal & External)- Yanley Lane Viaduct, Long Ashton- Redbridge Viaduct, SouthamptonThe testing included covermeter survey, half-cell potential mapping, incremental dust drilling and resistivity measurements.I have also been involved with a number of tenders for Post-Tensioned Special Inspections on major trunk road near Cardiff.Following a period of intense wet weather, I was part of a team to undertake inspections of bridges that were suspected I having flood damage, this involved assessing the structure to check for any damage and to provide the client with recommendations for repair if necessary.
