      Jul 2014 - Jul 2015
      CFM Strategic Propulsion Engineering Intern

      - Engine Workscoping: I learnt to compile technical documents that control the high level maintenance and disassembly requirements (Engine Workscopes). I would write Workscopes for the CFM56 engines which operate globally. Through Workscoping I have learnt about engine component durability issues, engine removal reasons and insight to environmental/regional factors affecting engine operation.- When Workscoping we found an opportunity to simplify the engine accessory section by automating the process. This saves 2 hours work, increasing productivity for GE. We leveraged our idea to other MRO shops and engine lines (GE90), currently used 375 times (31/7/2016).- Hardware Condition Monitoring: I monitored erosion on incoming High Pressure Compressor (HPC) Blades. I used a number of measuring techniques over 4 Months. We found that it was feasible for a customer to do quick turn engine shop visits (not overhauling the HPC) as the erosion present was within limits, this reduced unnecessary disassembly and shop visit costs for the customer and GE.- Engineering Visits: I hosted many visits from GE’s network increasing my interpersonal skills. My organisation and leadership skills were put to test when guiding many important people.- Oil Sampling and Analysis: I led an Oil Sampling Project to find a correlation between oil quality and engine life which could be used to predict an inflight shut down and engine time on wing. We ran 3 experiments on every engine that entered and left GE Wales.- Engineering Education Scheme Wales: STEM Ambassador project, play role as Industry Expert by providing a project for A-Level students to complete for a competition.- I have learnt so much from my Year in Industry it would be impossible to mention it all in such a limited space. I feel like I have gained essential skills that make me a more rounded and capable individual. Show less

2017 – Current, Research and Development/ Design Engineer, Concrete Canvas: Concrete Canvas are the producer of a new class of materials that comprises of a flexible, concrete-filled fabric which provides a thin and durable waterproof concrete layer when hydrated. I joined Concrete Canvas as a Research and Development Engineer working on a new product development project. The project is patent protected and I am under a non-disclosure agreement so I can not divulge certain specifics about the process. During my time at the company, the project has developed from a small pilot line to a multimillion-pound production line. Show less
