  FEM Simulation of the Braking System HNR17 Formula Student Racing CarThe first part of the project is determining the initial condition of brake systems HNR17 Race Carthat will be analysed via Finite-Element-Method (static) to determine the Von Mises elemental stress as well as the any deformation whilst braking. General rules and regulation from Board Member of Formula Student Germany are also recorded.Next phase was preprocessing both front and rear brake systems. The preprocessing phase begins with CAD construction of the braking system via CATIA V5 R19. Further FE modelling were conducted with MEDINA 8.5.1 and collaborated with PERMAS Gui as the FE Solver.Technical mechanics aspects of the braking process were assumed as static equilibrium withnegligence of any aerodynamic effect and no hydraulic pressure loss. Empirical method wasused in addition to the mathematical derivation of line pressure.Bolt connectivity accompanied with welded joint method was introduced as a solution insimulating the pretension force effect on the caliper bodies. Four load cases of natural braking procedure were upgraded to five for compensation of false error node slipping effect.   Untersuchung zur Verwendung von Component Mode Synthesis bei WEA-Strukturen:Im Betrieb von Windenergieanlagen werden Vibrationen des Antriebsstrangs als Luftschall abgestrahlt. Um die Einhaltung gesetzlicher Grenzwerte zu garantieren, ist die Schallabstrahlung bereits am virtuellen Modell zu bewerten und ggf. durch konstruktive Maßnahmen zu reduzieren. Für die FE-Simulation großskaliger diskreter Modelle haben sich Substrukturierungstechniken, im Besonderen die „Component Mode Synthesis“ (CMS), etabliert. In der Projektarbeit soll die Verwendung der CMS zur Reduzierung des Berechnungsaufwandes von WEA-Komponenten (Mainframe, Girder und Rotorwelle) untersucht werden. Hierzu gehört ein Vergleich der implementierten CMS-Methoden (Fixed-interface, Free-Interface, Residual-Flexible Free-Interface) hinsichtlich Anwendbarkeit, Genauigkeit und Effizienz in einem Frequenzbereich von 0-2000 Hz. Des Weiteren soll der Einfluss der Wahl der Master-Freiheitsgrade sowie der berücksichtigten Moden auf die Genauigkeit und Effizienz untersucht werden. Ziel ist es, einen möglichst guten Kompromiss zwischen Genauigkeit und Rechenaufwand für typische WEA-Komponenten zu identifizieren.Arbeitsschritte:- Literaturrecherche zu den notwendigen theoretischen Grundlagen- Vergleichende Untersuchung der implementierten Reduktionsmethoden für die Berechnung im Bereich von 0-2000 Hz bzgl.   Investigation for Acoustic Radiation Calculation regarding Large-Scale Components via Independent Acoustic Areas Simulated with the Aid of Finite Element Methods.Key Responsibilities:In operation of wind turbines, vibrations of the drivetrain are emitted as airborne sound. In order to guarantee the compliance with legal limit values, the sound radiation must already be assessed on the virtual model and, if necessary, reduced by constructive measures. To reduce the calculation effort, the radiating surfaces are simulated in separate acoustic calculation areas before being superimposed for the complete result.The scope of this research is to examine the influence of (minor) changes in the load situation or in the construction on the above-mentioned calculation in term of dominating radiation properties (sound power, directivity, phase shift, etc). These investigations should first be examined on a principle model with at least three spatially separated radiating surfaces, which are connected to the vibration source by a common structure-borne sound path. Finally, the verified results and settings must be applied to the relevant components of a wind turbine.Operational Steps:- Familiarization with the theoretical basics and the practical environment of the topic- Testing of the modeling and calculation process on small-scale "principle models":- Application of the investigation results to relevant components in a real wind turbine and evaluation of the "stability" and "reusability" of calculated acoustic properties compared to the above manipulated variables.
