  I earned this title by the Projects Abroad team after a month long volunteering trip to India followed by another month in Sri-Lanka. As an Ambassador, I was responsible for giving new or prospective volunteers an idea of what the excursions offered by Projects Abroad entailed, along with a debriefing of what to expect depending on the region they were to travel to. I was given a group of prospective volunteers in medicine to speak to. I was requested to give my first hand accounts of what happened on my trip and information on what they could expect to see and do to further improve their volunteering/medical experience abroad.   Completed one year of Medicine and Surgery. The year was divided into blocks of 3 month rotations. My rotations were Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, General Surgical Rotator and ENT Surgery.The Irish scheme is known to be very demanding of its Interns, where we have been required to sacrifice countless hours for the benefit of our patients. As an Intern, I, like many others, was the first on point. We would be exposed to all situations and medical/surgical scenarios without warning at any time when on the job. Honestly, this job has been an extremely demanding, tiresome and a lot of the time, frightening experience. I would however go through it again in a heartbeat. Despite the many obstacles that an Intern has to hurdle, this job has been the most character building experience to date. It has given me the tools to build a more durable character and I believe, a more humble physician. Show less
