      Working during the field season in the jungles of Belize, a topographic survey was conducted of known and potential ancient domestic and ceremonial ruins. The survey included working with GPS and total station equipment for point data collection, sighting and cutting transects through the jungle and organizing a crew of four to seven workers daily. Work had to be done with respect to the local landowners and religious views, as the remains often contained human burials. After the field work was completed, the point data was processed into interpretive maps of actual and potential structure location and size.       Performed natural gas leak detection services for clients throughout urban and rural Saskatchewan. Using AutoCAD maps and tracer wire sounding equipment the position of below ground natural gas pipelines and above ground services would be determined. Once located a Portable Methane Detector would be used to test for leaks along the length of the service line. Job required operation and maintenance of Trimble GPS units, Sensit PMD units, ATVs and four-wheel drive vehicles. During the 11 day shifts, employees worked alone and were responsible for their own safety and productivity. Field work included negotiating varying terrain and weather conditions while walking or operating different vehicles. Communication with end-user clients was common. Show less

      Assisted the Party Chiefs in completion of field work on assigned jobs, in accordance with industry standards and company procedures. General responsibilities included the setup and operation of automatic and digital levels, standard and robotic total stations, RTK/RTN base stations, GPS units and data collectors. Data management (organizing and formatting daily uploads/downloads), assisting with calculation and regularly communicating with clients where important secondary roles in this position. It was the responsibility of the Field Survey Technician/Assistant: to communicate questions, errors, and concerns to the Survey Party Chief; inspect and maintain field equipment, including the work vehicles; and to ensure a clean and organized work environment while adhering to all Health and Safety policies. The position also provided in office drafting experience using Civil 3D, as well as substantial experience adhering to Ministry of Transportation Ontario (MTO) standards for highway surveys. Projects completed while in this position include: legal (cadastral) boundary retracement and establishment surveys (finding evidence, setting and/or resetting monumentation); construction surveys (excavation staking, pinning, nailing and as-builts); topographic surveys for private, municipal and provincial clients; long-distance (10+km) differential levelling for roads and highways; bridge layout and as-builts.Equipment experience: Trimble TSC controllers, R8/R10 GNSS receivers, S5-S7 total stations, various RTN/RTK base receiver's/radio's; Sokkia SET 5 total station and controller, automatic and digital levels; Nikon DTM total station Show less
