  Duty Manager

  The Soldiers Club is a large club with around 100 employees, a gaming installation of 160 machines, 4 bars, large 450+ seat auditorium, large bistro and restaurant with contracted catering and a motel as well as a multi-storey office building located behind the club in the Batemans Bay CBD. In my time at the club I enjoyed a very close working relationship with the Operations Manager and CEO and was exposed to a lot of industry training. Key Achievements:* Won CMAA national Bursary in both 2007 & 2008* Managed the clubs beverage operations with an annual turnover of over $1.6M* Managed recruitment, selection and induction of frontline beverage and gaming staff*Introduced reporting systems and training to reduce beer wastage in the bars by around $10k per year* Managed the clubs gaming software (eBet) including installs, conversions, analysis as well as other components such as promotions and membership.*Developed a new managers roster to incorporate more flexible arrangements and enhance morale by providing better work-life balance*Worked closely with senior management to maintain the compliance program for gaming and bar operations*Provided amendments to base rosters to increase efficient use of human resourcesImplemented staff multi-skilling to enhance the staffs experience and provide greater flexibility for the business.* Successfully completed various accredited courses including key courses such as the Duty Manager Development Program with CMDA; and the highly regarded Visionary Leadership Program with Karynne Courts.   The club is a medium sized venue located on the South Coast of NSW. It has around 9000 members and 107 poker machines. The club employs between 60-80 staff and has an annual bar revenue of around $2m; food revenue (in-house) of $2m and gaming revenue of around $6m. In my role at the club I have worked as Operations Manager (2ic role) which involves leading and managing a team of 5 Duty Managers and Supervisors as well as subordinate staff in the gaming, beverage, bingo, cleaning, cellar, courtesy bus and promotions operational areas. My role includes working closely with the CEO and attending board meetings as well as providing input on key operational and strategic planning decisions relating to the business. Key Achievements:* Met and exceeded budgeted profit contributions year on year for the beverage department*Developed the skill set of the middle management team to previously unseen standards*Assisted with the management of the gaming installation including analysis, purchasing, layout, staffing and service*Overseen operational planning of renovations including bars, kitchens, function rooms and playground*Experience in negotiating complex supply agreements such as ATMs, POS and Gaming Systems.*Capably managed emergent HR and IR issues within the organization achieving sound results for the company.*Proficent in the use of Bepoz point of sale system, Aristocrat System 7000, The Analyst Gaming Software, eBet Gaming Software and some experience in MYOB.
