I had the pleasure of loading and unloading vehicles - from vans to box trucks all over the metroplex and beyond to find the pre-determined blood drive location for the day. Once at the location, I would work with my team - set up the logistics of the blood drive - perform donor registration, medical history / mini-physicals, determine whether the donor was eligible to donate or if they were deferred based on safety for the donor / recipient. All the while - I had the opportunity to educate many donors on the importance of donating blood and blood components while providing excellent customer service. Once the last donor was seen, we would then commence to pack everything back up into the vehicles and drive back to the corporate headquarters in Bedford, TX. Once we returned, there was vehicle inspection to complete - as I was / am a driver, I would review all documentation prior to turning it in, turned in the blood / blood components to the lab, and would then start all over the next day. Some blood drives were inside set-ups and some were on our buses - either way - it was an interesting and fulfilling career. My favorite part of this job was to create long time donors from first time high school donors. My most favorite and enjoyable part of my job was to educate the high school kids about the importance of donating red blood cells, to give them the BEST customer service possible while collecting their life-saving donation and have them share with their friends and family their experience. I loved exceeding the daily goals! Show less

CBC Record RBC Collection -- 162 RBC Donations in one day! Carter BloodCare Apr 2008 It was an outstanding day at Plano HS in which the team I was in charge of drew a record amount of RBCs from these wonderful first time donors! Truly an enjoyable day! I made superhero capes for the kids and teachers. Our amazing team collected blood until we ran out of apheresis kits - (& that's after I called back for additional kits!) Great team work - it was an incredible event that helped saved so many lives!
