  Security and Communications Intern

  As an intern at ECG, I had the opportunity to engage in job shadowing with several members of the consulting team. This was an invaluable experience as it allowed me to observe firsthand how experienced consultants approached their work and interacted with clients. Studying different low-current systems has given me a solid understanding of the principles and technologies underpinning these systems. I have gained knowledge in areas such as electrical wiring, communication protocols, and network infrastructure.One of the critical areas of focus in my studies was security systems, where I learned about different types of sensors, alarms, and surveillance equipment. I also gained knowledge on how these systems are integrated with other low-current systems, such as fire alarms and access control systems.In addition, I learned about audiovisual systems, such as public address systems and conferencing systems, and how they are designed, installed, and maintained. This included learning about different types of speakers, microphones, amplifiers, and mixers.Overall, studying different low-current systems has provided me with a broad understanding of these systems' technical concepts and practical applications. By the end of my internship, I was requested to examine the distribution of low-current systems in the building. Upon thorough examination, I identified a ‘dead zone’ that the CCTV system failed to cover! This was a crucial discovery, as it highlighted a security vulnerability that needed to be addressed. I showcased my findings with my team, and we implemented a solution that addressed the issue together. Show less

  Coordinated the logistics of international shipments, including sending Request for Quotations (RFQs) to forwarders, negotiated offers, and conducted a thorough price analysis to identify the most competitive offer. Followed up with all parties involved to ensure that the agreed arrangements were met. Collaborated with procurement engineers to understand the procurement cycle and liaised with suppliers to prepare a comprehensive price comparison sheet.
